May it be the main storyline or some subquests, a NEW GAME + playthrough will let you explore more about the story and see more perspectives than you did in the first playthrough. The fact that the video games don't really stick with the story of the books makes it much easier for the developers to write their own stories in The Witcher 3. That being said, the choices you make in The Witcher 3 could lead to very different stories, and it's always worth the new playthrough to go back and make different choices to see how they will play out. This makes some new equipment you find in your NG+ playthrough even better than your Grandmaster sets. Thankfully, the armor you find in NG+ also scales. This makes all enemies much tougher, and sooner than later, Geralt's equipment will become too underpowered for these powered-up beasts. However, NG+ scales with the level Geralt has by the end of your first playthrough. Not only does it make it easier for you to beat White Orchard much more quickly, but it will also make Geralt look like a badass right from the get-go.
Having your late-game gear with you is a great way to start the game.
